Dr. Amir Ali Amiri Moghadam is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Robotics & Mechatronics Engineering. Before joining KSU, Dr. Amiri Moghadam was an Adjunct Professor of Mechanical Engineering Technology and Industrial Design at New York City College of Technology. Prior to that, Dr. Amiri Moghadam was a Research Associate at Cornell University, where he developed biomedical devices for diagnostic and therapeutic applications. Before that, Dr. Amiri Moghadam was a visiting scholar in School of Engineering, Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment, Deakin University, Australia where he was a leading researcher in a state of art research project about development of bio-micromanipulation systems based on conjugated polymer actuators. Dr. Amiri Moghadam was a Postdoctoral Associate at Cornell University and received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, his M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kashan, and his B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Azad University of Mashhad. Dr. Moghadam is a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and New York Academy of Sciences.

Here at KSU, Dr. Amiri Moghadam's research focus areas are robotics, soft robotics, dynamic systems and control, robust control, mechanical vibration, and smart materials. Dr. Moghadam's research strategy’s essential element is to use a multidisciplinary design approach, which includes mechanical, electrical, and control system design to ensure reaching an optimum solution for complex engineering problems. In the spring of 2020, he established the Advanced Mechatronics and Intelligent Robotics (AMIR) Laboratory. Dr. Moghadam's research group focuses on modeling, design, control, and manufacturing of soft robotics systems equipped with novel soft actuators such as electroactive polymer actuators and ultrathin pneumatic actuators. These intelligent soft robots are safe to interact with humans and can be used in the next generation of collaborative robots and medical devices. Dr. Moghadam’s broader research focus areas include robotics and control system. Dr. Moghadam’s past achievements include development of advanced control systems for robust position control of robotic systems, design, modeling and fabrication of novel soft robotic systems equipped with artificial muscles, and development of novel medical devices such as transcatheter inflatable stents, personalized inflatable left atrial appendage occluders, and ventricular assist devices.

Dr. Amiri Moghadam is on the Editorial Board for Topic Editor Actuators MDPI and Advances in Robotics Research (ARR). He is also a Reviewer for Journal of Intelligent and Robotic Systems, Journal of Intelligent Materials Systems and Structures, IOP: Journal of Smart Material and Structures, IOP: Measurement Science and Technology, MDPI: Sensors, MDPI: Energies, Transactions of the Institute of Measurement and Control, IEEE Sensors Journal, IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, International Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition (IMECE), and IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics. Dr. Moghadam has over 40 refereed journal and conference papers with a corresponding h-Index of 13 and 595 citations.
