Amin Esmaeili
Dr. Esmaeili is an Associate Professor of Systems Engineering in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Kennesaw State University (KSU). In 2025, he was recognized by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) for his leadership in applied learning and student success and received the prestigious John L. Imhoff Global Excellence Award for Industrial Engineering Education for innovative, hands-on approaches to preparing students for their careers. He also received the Outstanding Early Career Award from KSU’s Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SPCEET) in 2022.
He holds an MBA with a concentration in Management Information Resources and a PhD in Industrial Engineering with a focus on Engineering Systems. Since 2011, he has been a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), with experience working with a range of clients, including utilities, research institutes, private companies, and nonprofit organizations. Over the past several years, Dr. Esmaeili has authored or co-authored numerous funding proposals totaling more than $8 million, published journal articles, prepared conference papers, and presented at regional and national conferences. Since 2021, Dr. Esmaeili has served as the Director of the Department of Energy–funded Industrial Training and Assessment Center (ITAC) at KSU. In this role, he has led the ITAC team in conducting more than 35 energy, productivity, and sustainability assessments for small- and medium-sized industrial facilities. He joined KSU with six years of experience in utility-sponsored energy-efficiency and measurement and verification projects. As a former Engineering Product Manager for one of the leading administrators of utilities’ demand-side management programs, Dr. Esmaeili and his team designed more than 20 energy-efficiency and grid-optimization portfolios for electric and gas utilities across the country.
