Jan Boner

Part-time Instructor of Music Education, School of Music

Jan Boner has been adjunct faculty member of the Kennesaw State University School of Music since Summer 2008. She is owner and director of Musik to Grow since its conception in 1991 offering music classes in the Cobb County community. Its purpose is to help young children, teachers and parents grow with music. Boner currently is the past president of the International Early Childhood Music & Movement Association whose mission is to unite music and early childhood professionals for the benefit of children. Boner also conducts workshops for early childhood educators approved by the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning.

Boner is certified to teach all Musikgarten curricula and holds ECMMA Certification Level III, and Orff Schulwerk Level II. She also has memberships with MENC, NAEYC and the Atlanta Chapter of Orff Schulwerk Association.

Boner completed a Master's in Education through the Lesley University Integrated Teaching through the Arts Program. She earned a Bachelor's of Music in music therapy from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and a Bachelor's of Theology, with emphasis in leadership training from The Way College of Biblical Research in Emporia, Kansas.

Most recently, Boner returned to the field of her first degree and became a Board Certified Music Therapist, winter 2010. She also trained and qualified to work with infants in the neonatal units of hospitals as music has been proven to help babies in the NICU units to thrive. Boner's experience and education indicates her passion for music and the young child.
