Dr. Ranasinghe is conducting research on glass science and technology under several different topics. She mainly work in silica based binary and ternary glasses under the following topics

1. Glass to create rare-earth nanoparticles
   
   
2. Nucleation and crystallization in oxide glasses via differential thermal analysis.
   
   
3. Rigidity Transition in silicate glass systems 
   
   
4. Containerless processing of silica glass using an electrostatic levitator (NASA MSFC)
