Dr. Ashuri joined Kennesaw State University in the fall 2020. He is currently serving the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology as the Interim Assistant Dean of Research Initiatives and Graduate Programs. Before joining Kennesaw State University, he was a faculty member at the University of Texas at Dallas and Arkansas Tech University where he served the University as the Director of Interdisciplinary Research Center, Director of Research and Graduate Program Director. He is a senior member of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and a Technical Committee in Multidisciplinary Design Optimization Committee of the Aerospace Design and Structures Group in AIAA.

Dr. Ashuri's research expertise is theroretical and applied Multiphysics Modeling and Design Optimization. From theoretical perspective, the focus area of Dr. Ashuri's research is the development of numerical methods to model the physics of unsteady flow fields, nonlinear composite structures, optimal control algorithms, novel optimization techniques, and machine learning algorithms. From applied perspective, the focus area of Dr. Ashuri's work is the interaction of different disciplines to analyze and optimize complex engineering systems. Application areas of Dr. Ashuri's research are soft robotics, unmanned aerial vehicles and renewable energy systems.

As part of his efforts, he founded the Multiphysics Modeling and Design Optimization Laboratory to advance the design of complex Mechanical and Aerospace structures and systems, quantification and mitigation of their design uncertainties, and computational design of inteligent systems using machine learning techniques.
