Adelaide Federici
Artist-in-Residence in Violin, School of Music
Praised by Strad Magazine for her “ingratiating tone” and “consistently reliable technique,” violinist Adelaide Federici enjoys a varied musical career. She is concertmaster of the Johns Creek Symphony and regularly performs with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Adelaide performs at music festivals across the country including Arizona MusicFest, The Bellingham Festival of Music, and The Lakes Area Music Festival . For twenty years, Adelaide served as assistant principal second violin of the Atlanta Opera Orchestra and member of the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra. A dedicated performer of contemporary music, Adelaide currently plays with Bent Frequency, with whom she performed at the Cervantino Festival in Guanajuato, Mexico. She has also performed with the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music in Santa Cruz, CA. Previous experience includes Sonic Generator, Chamber Cartel, North/South Consonance, and Forcast Music in New York and an assistantship with the University of Southern California Contemporary Music Ensemble. She has also collaborated with Terminus Modern Ballet Theater. In the non classical world, Adelaide has recorded with Bruce Springsteen, Train, Joe Gransden, and Monica. Adelaide received her Bachelors of Music degree from The Eastman School of Music studying under William Preucil and her Masters from the University of Southern California under Robert Lipsett. Other teachers of significant influence were Richard Simon and her mother, Lynn Baughman. Adelaide is artist in residence at the Bailey School of Music at Kennesaw State University. She lives in Druid Hills with her husband, two children, and two big dogs.
