Brendan Callahan

HeadshotWelcome! I'm Brendan Callahan, an Associate Professor of Biology Education in the Department of Secondary and Middle Grades Education.

My research program incorporates Epistemology, the Nature of Science, and Argumentation by utilizing Socioscientific Issues as a means to promote scientific literacy in both secondary and college level students, with a focus on preservice teachers. I currently serve as the program coordinator for the initial certification (BSED and MAT) programs in science education. My primary teaching responsibilities include science methods courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with student supervision as well.

Prior to my arrival at Kennesaw State University in 2012, I served as a middle and high school science teacher for ten years while earning my M.Ed. and Ph.D in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Science Education at the University of South Florida. I then spent three years as an Assistant Professor of Education at Ferris State University in Michigan, where I taught a variety of educational foundation and science methods courses.
