Daren Wilcox

Professor Wilcox is the Assistant Chair and Assistant Professor of Engineering Technology.  He is a long time academic, beginning his 28th year at the Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Technology (SPCEET).  The engineering technology department at SPCEET is the oldest applied engineering program in the college. It offers ABET accredited undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering Technology and Mechanical Engineering Technology. Professor Wilcox came to Southern Poly in 1998 on the recommendation of Professor Dale Ray, Professor and Associate Chair, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology.  At Georgia Tech, Professor Wilcox was a lecturer of analog circuits, digital circuits, and electronics.   He was also a researcher in the area of digital signal processing applied to ultra-wideband synthetic aperture radar and ground penetrating radar as part of the Army Research Laboratory’s FEDLAB program. At Southern Poly, Professor Wilcox has taught analog circuits, digital circuits, microcontrollers, microprocessors, embedded systems, VHDL, test engineering, signals and systems, digital signal processing, and senior design at the undergraduate and graduate level.  Professor Wilcox has served as the advisor and co-advisor to at least ten Master of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology theses at Southern Poly, several undergraduate research theses, and countless undergraduate senior design projects.  Most of Professor Wilcox’s time at Southern Poly has been spent working with students at all hours.
