Lacey Haslam

Lacey Haslam is the Director of BLOCK Gallery, a curatorial program organizing site-responsive exhibitions in public space. She is also the Lead Organizer of Archive of Creative Culture, a traveling book project rooted in social engagement, participation, collaboration, and public exchange.

 
With a focus on bringing art to our everyday spaces, Lacey Haslam has organized numerous temporary exhibitions and site-specific projects in urban spaces. For two years, Haslam produced the 9th Street New Media Art Exhibition, a free, public art event outfitting between nine and twelve windows along historic 9th Street in Old Oakland. In partnership with the Uptown Oakland CBD, she lead the commission of Latham Square Memorial Fountain, a text-based work by Oakland artist Kari Marboe. Marboe’s text is now embedded in the sidewalk of Latham Square in Oakland, CA. 

 
Haslam has served on the jury committee for the Oakland Public Arts Commission and facilitated art commissions at prestigious institutions including National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD, Harvard and the Li Ka Shing Building at UC Berkeley.

Haslam’s projects have been featured in KQED Arts, Bad At Sports, East Bay Express and SF Arts Monthly. Her writing has been published on SFMOMA’s Open Space–Collection Rotation. Haslam holds an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and a BFA from University of North Carolina at Asheville. Lacey Haslam grew up in Graham, NC and now lives in Woodstock, Georgia with her husband, JC and cat, Nico.
