Ermal Shpuza
Ermal Shpuza’s research interests span across spatial morphology, history of urban
form, complex systems in cities, environmental design, and workplace design. He studies
the evolution of Adriatic and Ionian coastal cities, urban transformation in the Balkans,
shape description, and the affinity between shape and circulation networks in the
built environment. Born in Shkoder, Albania in 1969, he received his architectural
professional degree from Polytechnic University of Tirana, MSc in Architecture from
the Bartlett, University College London, and PhD in Architecture from the Georgia
Institute of Technology. He was Visiting Faculty Fellow at quanTM Emory University,
Sustainability Fellow, and Global Fellow for the Year of Greece at KSU. He teaches
courses in spatial analysis, urban design theory, and environmental technology, and
studios in urban design, environmental design, and design foundation.
