Jessica Jones
Artist-in-Residence in Voice, School of Music
Soprano Jessica Jones is acclaimed for the beauty of her voice and her superb musicianship with America's leading opera companies and orchestras. Under the baton of Lorin Maazel she appeared with the New York Philharmonic and the Chicago Symphony. She has worked with such notable conductors as Christoph Eschenbach, Gerard Schwarz, Yan-Pascal Tortelier, Emmanuel Krivine, and Nicholas McGegan.
She has appeared with the San Francisco Symphony, the Baltimore Symphony, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the San Diego Symphony, the Atlanta Symphony, the Detroit Symphony, the Seattle Symphony and the Pittsburgh Symphony.
She has sung leading roles such as Countess in Seattle Opera's production of Le Nozze di Figaro. Fiordiligi in Cosi fan Tutte with the Houston Grand Opera, Seattle Opera and Madison Opera. Jessica Jones made a role debut as Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni at Opera Pacific. At Utah Opera and Symphony she sang Love Simpson in Carlisle Floyd's Cold Sassy Tree. With Houston Grand Opera, she has sung Micaela in Carmen. Other roles there have included Myrtis in the world premiere of Cold Sassy Tree and she created the role of Natasha Rogozhinskaya in Tod Machover's Resurrection (both available on recording). Ms. Jones appeared at Tulsa Opera in her first performances of Marguerite in Gounod's Faust and appeared as Madame Lidoine in Dialogues of the Carmelites conducted by James Conlon at the Aspen Music Festival.
The 2012/13 season began with a return to the National Gallery of Art, where Ms. Jones was seen in recital celebrating National Women's History Month.
In 2014, Ms. Jones was seen in concert with the Bob Cole Conservatory Orchestra at California State University at Long Beach and with the Holland Symphony in songs of Joseph Marx, 4 of which were US premieres.
Born in Miami, raised in Georgia, Jessica received her BM and MM from the Curtis Institute of Music. Her operatic training was with the Houston Grand Opera Studio.
