Meghan Klein Toups

Meghan Klein Toups earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of West Georgia. She has worked as a licensed professional counselor for nearly twenty years and as a part-time professor at KSU since 2022. In her clinical work, she specializes in the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders from a holistic perspective. Teaching is her primary focus at KSU. Dr. Toups' research examines how sociocultural ideologies become internalized through dialogue and voice, shaping women's experiences of identity, anxiety, and mental health. She is interested in exploring how cultural expectations surrounding gender, motherhood, and mental health are negotiated in everyday life, as well as the social implications of gendered mental health diagnoses. She is currently teaching PSYC 1101 (Introduction to General Psychology), PSYC 3355 (Cross-Cultural Psychology), PSYC 3425 (Psychology of Gender), and PSYC 4430 (Psychopathology).
