Dylan Goldblatt
Dylan Goldblatt is an applied linguist who became a technologist. He joined the Department of World Languages and Cultures as Lecturer of German in 2019 and served as Senior Lecturer through 2024, teaching German language courses and seminars in literature and film. In Fall 2022 he founded the Saga Applied AI Research Lab, the university's first dedicated applied-AI unit, which grew directly out of his computational training in language and now informs his role as AI Strategist and Applied Researcher in the KSU Office of Research (June 2024). He holds a Ph.D. in Germanic Languages and Literatures from the University of Virginia, where his dissertation examined jurisprudence in Gottfried's Tristan. His areas of academic research expertise include handwriting classification, machine translation across medieval and ancient languages and dialects, law in literature, and applications of natural language processing for language assessment and skill development.
