Progyateg Chakma

Headshot

Dr. Progyateg Chakma (Dr. Chakma) earned his bachelor's degree in Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from the University of Dhaka in 2014. He then began his doctoral studies at the Miami University of Ohio in 2015, where his research focused on exploring the introduction of adaptability in polymeric materials through dynamic thiol-Michael chemistry and nucleophilic substitution. After completing his Ph.D. in 2020, where he was recognized as a dissertation scholar, he transitioned to the University of Washington at Seattle to conduct postdoctoral research focusing on mechanochemistry for radical polymerization. In 2023, Dr. Chakma moved to the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, where he explored peptoid chemistry for applications in materials science and bio-inspired catalysis. In Fall 2025, he joined the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Kennesaw State University as a faculty member, where his research group aims to develop functional building blocks and materials by unique amalgam of fundamental organic chemistry with applied materials chemistry through utilizing techniques such as novel peptoid synthesis, self-assembly, bio-conjugation, and mechanochemistry blocks with a focus on sustainability and bio-inspired applications.
