Richard McKee

Part-time Instructor of Music Education, School of Music

Richard McKee is an Adjunct Instructor of Music Education at Kennesaw State University and teaches Music For Early And Middle Grades. He has also been an Adjunct Instructor at Shorter College.

He holds a Bachelor Of Music Education degree from Shorter College, and a Masters of Music in Music Composition and Educational Specialist Degree in Music Education from the University of Georgia. He has studied Composition with Peter Dewitt, John Corina, Lewis Nielson and Michael Hennigan. He holds a Masters Level Certificate in Orff-Schulwerk. McKee has been teaching music in elementary schools for 24 years.

McKee is past director of the Rome Children's Choir and The Shorter College Handbell Choir. He has served as guest clinician for honor choruses throughout Georgia and in South Carolina including the Georgia State-Wide Elementary Honor Chorus. He has been an active church musician directing adult choirs, youth choirs, children's choirs and handbell choirs at different times throughout his career. His published and unpublished compositions have been performed by ensembles all over the United States. He is currently publishing his works through his own publishing company, Cosmic Possum Music. McKee is a member of the Atlanta Chapter of the Orff-Schulwerk Association and The Georgia Music Educators Association.
