Sohyung Cho

Dr. Sohyung Cho is Professor and Chair of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Kennesaw State University (KSU). He is a prominent researcher with numerous research papers published in renowned journals for Industrial and Biomedical Engineering. His research focuses on the motions and ergonomic risks analysis in various occupational settings including general surgery, robotics and the application of machine learning and data mining techniques for industrial engineering and biomedical research. With more than 7 years of industry experience and 20 years of teaching experience, Cho is an established educator and well-respected teacher in the Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SPCEET). 

Before joining KSU SPCEET in 2023, Cho served Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville (SIUE) as the chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering. Under his leadership, the IE department grew in both undergraduate and graduate enrollment, improved student diversity, established awards and scholarships for students and partnerships for global learning. 

Cho earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Seoul National University, South Korea and received his PhD degree in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. After his PhD degree, he served on faculty at University of Miami (FL) until he joined SIUE faculty in 2008.
