Thomas Nisley’s areas of interest in teaching and research include Latin American politics, international relations, and US foreign policy. He has two current research projects: one project explores the role of the Peace Corps in US foreign policy in Africa and the other examines great power competition in Latin America. His most recent publication is a research article titled 'The Popular Perception of China in Latin America and the Role of Confucian Institutes' in the journal Questions in Politics. Dr. Nisley's book,The Peace Corps and Latin America: In the Last Mile of US Foreign Policy is available from Lexington Books. Before his career in academia, Dr. Nisley served for 27 months as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Dominican Republic.
