Thomas Nisley’s areas of interest in teaching and research include Latin American politics, international relations, and US foreign policy. His current research project examines great power competition in Latin America. His most recent publication is a research article titled 'The Peace Corps and the Popular Perception of the United States in Africa in the journal Politics & Policy (Vol. 53 No. 6, Dec. 2025). Dr. Nisley's book,The Peace Corps and Latin America: In the Last Mile of US Foreign Policy is available from Bloomsbury Publishing. Before his career in academia, Dr. Nisley served for 27 months as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Dominican Republic.
