Wes Funderburk

Wes Funderburk has performed across the United States and Europe and is currently one of the most sought after trombonists and arrangers in Atlanta and the Southeast.  He is the author of Funderbone.com and the inventor of Blog Songs! Wes  earned his Bachelor's Degree in trombone performance from the University of North Florida and his Masters' Degree in trombone performance with a concentration in jazz studies from Georgia State University.

From 2007 til current Wes has been on faculty at Kennesaw State University teaching applied jazz trombone, jazz arranging and directing KSU Jazz Ensemble II. From 2010 - 2017 he joined the faculty at Georgia State University as a visiting lecturer in jazz studies. As a clinician Wes has given master classes at Kennesaw State University, University of Georgia, Francis Marion University, The University of North Florida, Georgia State University, Columbus State University (Ga), the Mars Hill Low Brass Retreat, Tanglewood Music Camp and numerous high schools across the Southeast.  

In addition to his busy teaching schedule Wes is an in-demand arranger and composer for many artists. He is the chief arranger for the Joe Gransden Big Band for whom he's written over 120 arrangements, many of which can be heard on Joe's numerous big band albums. He also co-arranged and orchestrated three albums by John Driskell Hopkins, cofounder of the Zac Brown Band. Wes has also written over 50 arrangements for the Atlanta Pops Orchestra featuring artists such as Timothy Miller, David Phelps, Chloe Agnew, Balsam Range, John Driskell Hopkins, Arrested Development, Levi Lowry and Ruby Velle. 

Wes served as a governor for the Recording Academy Atlanta Chapter from 2012 - 2016 and is a performing clinician for Rath trombones.
