Short Bio: Yong Pei is Professor of Computer Science at Kennesaw State University in Marietta, Georgia and he also served as the Chair of the Department of Computer Science from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2026. Prior to his current appointment in 2022, he was the LexisNexis Ohio Eminent Scholar, Professor and Graduate Program Director of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Director of the Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering Program at Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio, that he joined as an assistant professor in 2003. From 2002 to 2003, he was a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida. He has been responsible for teaching and research in computer science, data science and system engineering.

Yong's specific research interests in computing include both basic and applied researches in Human-AI Teaming, distributed collaborations, AIOps, AI/ML/NLP/CV, AR/VR/XR, HCI, IUX, serious games, mobile and sensory technologies, and etc. His interdisciplinary researches have been sponsored by over 30 grants from federal and state agencies such as HHS AHRQ, HHS CMS, HHS SAMHSA, DoD AFRL, NSF, Ohio Federal Research Networks, Ohio Development Services Agency, Ohio Dept. of Medicaid, Ohio Dept. of Higher Education, Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services as well as industry partners. His researches receive recognitions and coverages in, e.g., American Inno, NPR, NYT, RAND Corp., US News & World Report, and etc. In 2017 he led a WSU team to the Ohio Collegiate Venture Showcase. In 2018, he was awarded the top prize in the Ohio Opioid Technology Challenge, a worldwide competition for innovative ideas and technologies to fight the opioid crisis.

Yong received his MS and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1999 and 2002, respectively, and his BS degree in Electrical Power Engineering from Tsinghua University in 1996. He also received a Certificate of Technology Commercialization from The Ohio State University and The Ohio Department of Higher Education through the I-Corps@Ohio program in 2017.
