Dr. Chi Zhang is an Associate Professor of Information Technology in the College of Computing and Software Engineering and serves as University Ombuds starting in August 2019. Previously, she served as the Interim Department Chair of Software Engineering and Game Development from 2016 to 2019. Dr. Zhang has been a Program Evaluator for the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET since 2016.
She received her Ph.D. in Information Technology from the University of Nebraska Omaha, as well as a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Nebraska Omaha and a Master of Science in Education in Instructional Technology from the University of Nebraska Kearney. Dr. Zhang is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information & Management Systems (CPHIMS) and a Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA).
Her research interests include Health Information Technology, Health Analytics, Open Source Technology, and STEM and IT Education. Prior to joining the University in 2010, Dr. Zhang had taught a variety of courses in Computer Science and Information Systems at the University of Nebraska Omaha for nine years.
