Community Outreach

KSU Archaeology provides a variety of fun and educational activities for kids and adults to learn about archaeology methods, site preservation, and material history. Working with the Student Anthropology Club, we design several events each semester to bring archaeology to various communities.

International Archaeology Day

We celebrate International Archaeology Day every October by hosting activities at historical societies or farmers markets.

Atlanta Science Festival Expo

We join the Atlanta Science Festival Expo in Piedmont Park every spring, showcasing the scientific methods used in anthropology.

Museum support

We participate in science and archaeology themed days at local Museums including the Tellus Science Museum and Fernbank Museum of Natural History.

Classroom visits

We are equipped to do school visits for classrooms that are learning about archaeology or prehistory.

Kids in the lab

We host kids days every year in our lab and lead extended activities that allow kids to try their hand at being an archaeologist.
