Dr. Amelia Estwick

Dr. Amelia Estwick is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Technology in the College of Computing and Software Engineering at Kennesaw State University. She directs the Cyber neKSUs Lab, where her research spans cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity education.

Prior to joining KSU, Dr. Estwick served as Director of Threat Research at VMware, leading global teams in malware analysis, threat hunting, and threat intelligence. She brings over 30 years of technical and leadership experience across the government and private sectors, including 16 years at the National Security Agency, a decade of which was spent in cyber operations as a Technical Leader. She also served as Director of the National Cybersecurity Institute at Excelsior College, advancing initiatives in cybersecurity awareness, education, and workforce development.

Dr. Estwick holds a Master's degree and Ph.D. in Computer Science from The George Washington University and is a recipient of the National Physical Sciences Consortium Fellowship. She began her career as an Information Security Analyst in the United States Army and is a Gulf War veteran. In 2021, she was honored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Center for Women Veterans as a Veteran Trailblazer. She has also been recognized as one of the Top 150 Women Fighting Cybercrime and, in 2019, was invited to testify before the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security on "Growing and Diversifying the Cyber Talent Pipeline."
