Before pursuing a Ph.D., I spent nearly a decade in the Army as an Infantry officer. In the positions I held, I had the unique opportunity to lead hundreds of soldiers and see firsthand the many ways in which trauma negatively impacts performance in every aspect of an individual’s life. These experiences motivated me to pursue a Ph.D. in psychology with an emphasis on the health and wellbeing of military service members, their families, and the communities in which they live. Most broadly, my program of research is grounded in health, clinical, and experimental psychology and focuses on investigating health-related disorders in trauma-exposed populations.
