Research
I study the user experience of novel technologies applied in games, focused on expanding our understanding of how players perceive and interpret game design, as well as eliciting good design practices for novel technologies. My current focus is how AI technologies applied in games affect the gaming experience. I run the Novel Game Design Lab, located in Norton Hall on the Marietta campus.
My previous research includes social believability for non-player characters, and usability and design heuristics for games. I'm the head organizer of the User Experience of Artificial Intelligence in Games Workshop.
