Research

Dr. Horsey has a passion for educating the future leaders of the construction industry and creating a more diverse construction workforce.  Her specific research interest is in the education and training of underrepresented groups in construction, and how it can positively affect performance efficiency on projects and impact the future of construction leadership.   She believes the research and study of women and people of color and their past, present, and future contributions to building construction is an underutilized tool for the advancement of diversity in the industry.  Further investigation on this subject coupled with current construction trends and technology will make a significant contribution to industry and academia on the subject.  Exploration of these research areas allows her to contribute to a more diverse construction workforce.  She hopes her research provides knowledge and opportunities for academia and the built environment.  The following are her specific research interests:

·         Construction technology and the advancement of disadvantaged business enterprises

·         Resilient built environment and underrepresented populations

·         Primary and secondary education construction career academies and programs

·         Underrepresented contractor education and training
