Israel Sánchez-Cardona
Israel Sánchez-Cardona earned a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus (San Juan, PR) and a Ph.D. in work and organizational psychology from the Universitat Jaume I (Castellón de la Plana, Spain). His research interests are in the domain of occupational health psychology and well-being applied to organizational and academic contexts. In his research, Dr. Sánchez-Cardona has explored how job resources and personal resources are linked to workers' mental health and well-being (e.g., stress, work engagement, job boredom, positive affect). Dr. Sánchez-Cardona is particularly interested in identifying antecedents and mechanisms, such as psychological capital, meaning, strength use, engagement, job crafting, and resilience, to design and implement intervention activities. He was associate editor of the Revista Puertorriqueña de Psicología [Puerto Rican Journal of Psychology] (2015-2020) and serves on various editorial boards. In 2019, he was awarded the Mentor of the Year award by the Puerto Rico Psychological Association. Before joining KSU, Dr. Sánchez-Cardona worked as an assistant professor at the I/O psychology graduate program at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus, associate professor at the Ph.D. Clinical Psychology Program at Albizu University (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and post-doctoral research fellow at Universitat Jaume I (Spain).
