Jian Zhang received his B.S. and M.S. in Applied Physicals from Sichuan University in 2005 and 2008, respectively. He received his Ph.D. In Electrical Engineering from Auburn University in 2016.
From 2016 to 2019, Dr. Zhang worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the RFID Lab of Auburn University, working on the Automated and Intelligent robotic system for retailers and logistics. From 2019 to 2021 he was an assistant research professor in the RFID Lab at Auburn University. From 2008 to 2014, He also worked in the telecommunication industry as a software engineer, project manager, and product manager.
Dr. Zhang’s primary research interests are automated and intelligent robotic systems for logistics, which involve Machine learning, autonomous robotics, indoor wireless localization, and Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) applications. Additionally, he is also interested in ubiquitous sensing, especially in investigating RFID technology to improve our daily lives and industries.
Prospective Students: I am looking for two prospective Ph.D. students (Fall 24 in Computer Science Ph.D. program). In short, you are expected to have relevant experience in intelligent robots or wireless communication/location and strong programming skills for Deep Learning and/or systems.
