Hi! My name is Sophia Ramirez and I am a graduate student at Kennesaw State studying Exercise Science. I graduated from the University of Georgia in 2020 with degrees in both Mathematics and Biology with a minor in Cellular Biology. I have hopes of one day becoming a surgeon specializing in bariatrics. When I am not in the lab or studying, I am with my dog, Lola Ramirez.

BreMcDonaldBre McDonald, Graduate Research Assistant (beginning Fall 2022)

As a recent alumnus of Kennesaw State University, I plan to enter my first semester of graduate school in the Fall. I recently graduated with honors majoring in Exercise Science this past Spring. I have been a member of the Ingram Research team since the Summer of 2021. I plan to continue my education by earning a doctoral degree. I enjoy research. I hope to learn many research skills, become a better scientist, and help people in the process

MJohnsonMaria Johnson, Undergraduate Research Assistant
STEP UP Fellow, Summer 2022

My name is Maria Johnson and I am a 3rd year undergraduate at UGA studying Microbiology. I came to Dr. Ingram’s lab through the NIH-funded STEP UP Program over the summer to research Diabetes during pregnancy, otherwise known as Gestational Diabetes. I believe that the microbiome is very important in determining a person’s overall health, and with Diabetes now being an epidemic, I have become passionate about helping alleviate it. My experience in her lab is very enriching, as I am able to further understand how to conduct research on my own under Dr. Ingram’s supervision. Overall, I am very excited to continue my future in research to assist in the betterment of our community.

 Ami Eho, Undergraduate Research Assistant
STEP UP Fellow, Summer 2022

My name is Ami Eho, I am a current undergraduate student studying Biochemistry at Kennesaw State University. I have been part of Dr. Ingram’s research team for about three years, and I think each year in the team brings new challenges, growth, and knowledge. As someone who is passionate about science and the application of science in medical research, I strive and aspire to find preventative ways to serve and help pregnant women, infants, and youth to live well. Over the summer, I will be working on a new project with the team geared towards the comparison and validation of formulas that are used to estimate body composition in pregnant women. I am very excited to see how I will grow professionally and personally this summer and throughout my duration in the research team. I cannot wait to use the skills I will gain to better serve people and become well equipped as a future scientist.
