Research

My research focuses on prenatal programming and the power of the embryonic environment. Exposure of embryos to maternal and/or environmental cues during prenatal development can permanently impact the physiology and behavior of the resulting offspring. The Navara lab is particularly interested in the impacts of maternal hormones, environmental contaminants, and food additives on the development of the immune system in avian embryos.
