I am the Interim Department Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry for the academic year 2024-2025.

My area of research utilizes my knowledge in Environmental, Analytical and Pharmaceutical Chemistry.  Instruments that I use are the ICP-OES, GC-MS, ultra-HPLC, FTIR,  UV-Vis, Contact Angle and XRF.

Below are projects that I am interested in:

1) mapping microplastics in Lake Allatoona both in the sand and in the water.  This is a multiyear study. This is suitable for undergraduates

2) mapping the metal content (XRF) of Lake Allatoona sand. This is suitable for undergraduates

3) studying the absorption of organic contaminants (HPLC), and/or lead (XRF and ICP-OES) onto pristine and aged fabric. This is suitable for undergraduates or a new MS Student

4) studying the effect of microplastics on the phytoremediation of lead by switchgrass. This is suitable for a new MS Student or a Post Doc
