Dr. Mallavarapu received her Bachelor's degree in Zoology at Southern Illinois University. She went on to earn her M.S. and Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Dr. Mallavarapu's research interests include zoo visitor behavior, conservation education in zoos, zoo exhibit evaluation, zoo & shelter animal behavior & welfare, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. Dr. Mallavarapu has published in the American Journal of Primatology, Animal Welfare, Primates, Anthrozoos, and Environmental Education Research. She has also published with undergraduate students in the Kennesaw Journal of Undergraduate Research.
