I graduated from Auburn University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. I received my Master of Accountancy degree from Auburn in 2001. While completing my coursework, I held an internship position with Powertel, Inc., a regional cell phone provider, in their corporate accounting office in West Point, GA. I also held an internship position with Big 4 international accounting firm Ernst & Young, LLC, in their Columbus, GA office. Upon completion of my graduate degree, I accepted a full-time position as an auditor with Ernst & Young in Atlanta and served on numerous audit engagements of Fortune 500 companies. I became a Certified Public Accountant in 2004. After working in public accounting for 3 years, I began working for The Facility Group, a design/build company located in Smyrna, GA. I held positions of increasing responsibility over the six years I worked for The Facility Group, and was the Controller and head of the Accounting Department when I resigned in 2010 to begin teaching full-time. While working full-time at The Facility Group, I was also an adjunct accounting professor for two years.
