Turaj Ashuri
Dr. Ashuri commenced his tenure at Kennesaw State University in the autumn of 2020. At present, he holds the role of Assistant Dean of Research Initiatives and Graduate Programs (interim) within the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology. Prior to his tenure at Kennesaw State University, he held faculty positions at the University of Texas at Dallas and Arkansas Tech University. He took on various leadership roles, such as Director of the Interdisciplinary Research Center, Director of Research, and Graduate Program Director.
Before entering academia, he accrued more than a decade of experience in the industry, where his responsibilities spanned roles such as Strucural Design Engineer, Research Engineer, and Research and Development Project Manager.
Dr. Ashuri possesses the distinction of being an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). He is an active member of the Multidisciplinary Design Optimization Committee within the Aerospace Design and Structures Group of AIAA, where he plays a significant role in technical matters. Furthermore, Dr. Ashuri has taken on the crucial role of Discipline Chair for the 2023 AIAA Aviation Forum and Exposition.
Dr. Ashuri's research expertise is rooted in both theoretical and applied Multiphysics Modeling and Design Optimization. On the theoretical front, his research centers on the development of numerical methods for modeling complex phenomena, including unsteady flow fields, nonlinear composite structures, optimal control algorithms, novel optimization techniques, and machine learning algorithms. From an applied perspective, Dr. Ashuri's work focuses on the integration of various disciplines to analyze and enhance intricate engineering systems. His research finds practical application in fields such as Soft Robots, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, and Renewable Energy Systems.
