Turaj Ashuri
Dr. Ashuri joined Kennesaw State University in the fall of 2020. He is currently serving the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology as the Assistant Dean of Research Initiatives and Graduate Programs (interim). Before joining Kennesaw State University, he was a faculty member at the University of Texas at Dallas and Arkansas Tech University where he served the University as the Director of the Interdisciplinary Research Center, Director of Research, and Graduate Program Director.
Dr. Ashuri is an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and a Technical Committee in the Multidisciplinary Design Optimization Committee of the Aerospace Design and Structures Group in AIAA. He is the Discipline Chair for the 2023 AIAA Aviation Forum and Exposition.
Dr. Ashuri's research expertise is theoretical and applied Multiphysics Modeling and Design Optimization. From a theoretical perspective, the focus area of Dr. Ashuri's research is the development of numerical methods to model the physics of unsteady flow fields, nonlinear composite structures, optimal control algorithms, novel optimization techniques, and machine learning algorithms. From an applied perspective, the focus area of Dr. Ashuri's work is the interaction of different disciplines to analyze and optimize complex engineering systems. Application areas of Dr. Ashuri's research are Soft Robots, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, and Renewable Energy Systems.
