Dr. Aberdeen (Leila) Borders holds a Ph.D. and MBA in Marketing from Georgia State
University and a BBA in Accounting from the University of Georgia. Her teaching and
research have primarily focused on sales and sales management, as well as business-to-business
marketing. Before joining Kennesaw State University, Dr. Borders taught at Georgia
State University, Clark Atlanta University, and the University of New Orleans. Prior
to academia, Dr. Borders held the position of senior auditor with the Department of
Defense (Defense Contract Audit Agency) and later, senior systems analyst with BellSouth
Telecommunications.
Dr. Borders is professor emerita at Kennesaw State University; however, before retiring
from Kennesaw, she served as a professor of marketing and sales and the assistant
chair of the Department of Marketing and Professional Sales. She was an editorial
board member for the Journal of Global Scholars of Marketing Science (JGSMS), Journal
of Emerging Knowledge on Emerging Markets (JEKEM), and Journal of Business & Industrial
Marketing (JBIM). Dr. Borders also served many terms with the Coles College Hughes
Leadership and Career Program (HLCP) as a career coach, the Symposium of Asia-USA
Partnership Opportunities (SAUPO) as a program organizer, the National Collegiate
Sales Competition (NCSC) as an orchestrator, and the American Marketing Association
(AMA) Relationship Marketing Strategic Interest Group (RMSIG) as the president.
Dr. Borders is currently a member of the board of directors of the Dorm to C-Suites
Career Coaching program. Some of Dr. Borders’ most recent honors and awards include
the PhD Project Hall of Fame, Coles College Service Award, KSU Collaborative Award,
and the Atlantic Marketing Association R. Keith Tudor Service Award.
