Current Research Projects

So, you think you want to play with turtles. I always love to have people work with me when I'm out hunting turtles. There are several people interested in field work this summer, so this seems to be the best way to coordinate folks. The way I am going to work this (most of you have heard this), is I am going to put up a schedule of my summer as far ahead as I can manage and you can look at that schedule to see when you can come out to play with the turtles. I will update it regularly as I get new times/dates coordinated and I will occasionally change things as new needs arise, so stop by often. Early, its going to be a week-by-week schedule, but as I get everyone up and running I will have more certainty in what I will be doing when and then I can plan a little farther ahead. There are 3 people that can change my schedule; Daniel, Patrick, and Ryan; everyone else will need to try to fit their schedule around mine. I'm not trying to exclude anyone, I just can't coordinate all the various schedules very well and the 3 named souls are actually doing research projects with me, so they get more of my attention. Feel free to tell me if I've made a schedule that doesn't allow you to participate at all and I will see if I can do something about it, but I can't make any promises.

Now, when you find a time/day that you want to participate, shoot me an email (sreese3@kennesaw.edu) with that information and I will pencil you in. One stipulation, if you commit to a particular day/time please don't blow it off and try not to be late. If you do that too much I will stop playing with you and you will no longer be welcome in my turtle world. If you have a legitimate need to cancel on a given day, just make sure you tell me (try to give me some lead time, 2 minutes before I'm scheduled to leave is not nice). Keep in mind, when you are working in the field it will be hot, and messy; you may have to go through some rough spots to get where you are going. Don't wear you Sunday-going-to-church clothes and be prepared to get wet (the turtles we want don't live on dry land). It may not always happen that you get wet, but if you come out in a white t-shirt and fall in a lake/stream...well I think you get the picture. Also, make sure you have some sunscreen, don't want any skin cancer when you are older. Bring something to drink as well, I don't need you passing out from heat exhaustion.
