About Me
Stephen M. Wadsack joined the faculty at Kennesaw State University in Fall 2024 as the full-time Assistant Professor of Trumpet and Brass Area Coordinator at the Dr. Bobbie Bailey School of Music. Beyond his applied teaching responsibilities within the Trumpet Studio, Dr. Wadsack leads weekly warmup classes, trumpet studio class, and informal sessions on group listening and mindfulness practices for music students. Additionally, Wadsack coordinates the University's brass chamber groups, brass area symposiums, annual outreach events such as the "Brass Blast," and the coaching of several award-winning student ensembles.
Performance:
Wadsack performs regularly throughout the United States and Europe with symphony orchestras,
wind ensembles, as a recitalist, and as a jazz musician. He has quickly identified
himself as one of the premier trumpeters within the Greater Atlanta area, performing
with the Gerogia Ballet Orchestra, in off-Broadway shows, and as an in-demand freelance
musician. Prior to arriving in Georgia, Wadsack also performed as an extra musician
with numerous symphony orchestras throughout the Midwest, including: the Cincinnati
Symphony, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic, Dayton Bach Society,
Lexington Philharmonic, Richmond Symphony, and Springfield Symphony, among many others.
He has performed and taught at dozens of universities and music festivals worldwide,
most recently appearing at the Corfu International Trumpet Festival (Greece), numerous
International Trumpet Guild (ITG) conferences, and Guest Artist residencies spanning
from Alaska to Maine.
Personal:
Outside of musical pursuits, Stephen enjoys connecting with friends, family, and current/former
students. He is very passionate about the outdoors, hiking, fly fishing, and traveling
to new places (especially National and State Parks). At home, Stephen regularly enjoys
hosting his friends, all things coffee, and even brewing his own beer. He is also
particularly proud of his Wyoming heritage (Go Pokes!). Stephen is happily married
to his wife and "adventure partner," Casey. Together, they have collaborated to present
free interactive and educational concerts for children, as well as exploring the intersection
of trauma-informed research with applied music study.
