Research & Publications
The Adams Research Lab focuses on color-changing materials for potential applications in smart windows, smart packaging, chemical sensing, wearable electronics, and energy storage. In addition to strong color changes, we aim to make these as inexpensive and safe as possible by focusing on water-soluble molecules that can be easily processed at large scale. More specifically, we synthesize extended viologen molecules that can easily and reversibly gain electrons, which drives the color change characteristics. In addition to the traditional route of writing publications, the lab is interested in patenting new discoveries and commercialization pathways.
