Biography
Dr. Msimanga, born in Zimbabwe, Matebeleland, did his early education at private schools run by the Brethren in Christ Church missionaries who came mainly from Pennsylvania, USA. He went to South Africa for college education and earned a B.Sc. Honors in Chemistry at the University of Zululand, South Africa, in 1974. He further earned University Education Diploma (1975) and Bachelor of Education (1979) while employed as Senior Laboratory Assistant at UZ (Department of Chemistry). After serving the University for seven years, he and his family moved to the USA. In 1983 he completed a M. Sc. degree in Chemistry at Atlanta University under the mentorship of Professor Scott G. Owen. Dr. Msimanga continued with graduate work at Georgia Institute of Technology where he worked on data processing techniques (Target Factor Analysis, Fast Fourier Transforms) using electrochemical data (Professor Peter E. Sturrock as advisor). After graduating in 1988 he joined Kennesaw State University (then College) where he is currently a Professor. Dr. Msimanga is married to Dr. Ntombiyomusa Doris (maiden: Motha), who also graduated in chemistry from Georgia Institute of Technology (1992) under the mentorship of Professor Richard Browner . The couple is blessed with two daughters, Nokuthula (MD), Nontando (Nurse Aid), a son, Siphiwindoda (B.S. in Finace, MS in Information Technology) and five grand children: Thembinkosi, Zephaniah, Bhekinkosi, Racquel, and Mariah.
