CHEM 1151/1151L: Fundamental Chemistry I:Prerequisite: Math 0099 and Read 0099; co-requisite:
Chem1151Lab. Course recommended for Nurse majors and students who feel a need to recall
freshman chemistry material.
CHEM 1211/1211L: General Chemistry I:Prerequisite: High school chemistry or Chem 1151.
Co-requisite: CHEM 1211Lab, MATH 1113 or MATH 1112. This is the first two-semester course sequence that covers fundamental principles
and applications of chemistry for science majors.
CHEM 1212/1212L: General Chemistry II:Prerequisite: “C” or better in CHEM1211. Corequisite:
CHEM 1212Lab, MATH 1190. This is the second two-semester course sequence that covers fundamental principles
and applications of chemistry for science majors.
CHEM 2100/2100L: Introduction to Forensic Chemistry:Prerequisite: “C” or better in
CHEM1211/Lab. Co-requisite: CHEM1212. This introductory course to forensic chemistry covers the scope of forensic science,
physical evidence, and chemistry applications in evidence analysis.
CHEM 2800/2800L: Quantitative Inorganic Chemistry:Prerequisite: “C” or better in both
CHEM 1212 and MATH 1190. Co-requisites: CHEM28oo Lab. The course covers statistics, volumetric analysis, acid/base equilibria, potentiometry,
and uv/vis spectroscopy.
CHEM 3800/3800L: Forensic Analytical Chemistry:Prerequisite: “C” or better in CHEM
2800 and CHEM 3362. Co-requisite: CHEM 3800Lab. This course includes statistics, data quality, sample preparation, drug analysis,
pharmacology, chemistry of combustion. Modern instrumental analysis is emphasized.
CHEM 4300/4300L: Instrumental Analytical Chemistry:Prerequisite: “C” or better in
CHEM 2800 and “C” or better in CHEM 3050 or CHEM 3601. Co-requisite: CHEM 4300 Lab. This course offers more advanced statistics (chemometrics) and emphasizes use of more
modern instrumentation covering spectroscopy, electroanalysis, and chromatographic
separations.
CHEM 4100: Directed Applied Research:Prerequisite: Junior level status. Consent of
instructor and chair.Investigative projects are directed by the instructor.
CHEM 4400: Directed Study:Prerequisites: Approval by instructor and chair on more
advanced areas that are not offered in regular classes.
CHEM 4310: Advanced Topics in Analytical Chemistry:Prerequisites: “C” or better in
CHEM 3602. Emphasis is on advanced theories and techniques in analytical chemistry.
