R. Ugena Whitlock

Dr. Whitlock has been at Kennesaw State University since 2005. She is chair of the Department of Educational Leadership, which also houses programs in Teacher Leadership and Higher Education Administration. Her home department is the Department of Secondary & Middle Grades Education, where she is Professor of Curriculum & Instruction. She is affiliated faculty with the Interdisciplinary Studies Department in the Norman J. Raddow College of Humanities and Social Sciences, where she teaches in the Gender & Women's Studies, American Studies, and Religious Studies Programs. Her research interests include examining intersecting contexts of gender, race, class, and religion and their mutual relationality with curriculum and schooling. Her current research surrounds thinking theologically about curriculum theory. Ugena received her Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction with a specialization in Curriculum Theory and Minor in Women's and Gender Studies from Louisiana State University. In 2020, she received a Master's of Divinity (MDiv) from Mercer University.
