As a Graduate Fellow (Landesgraduiertenstipendiat) of the Free State of Thuringia, he earned his doctoral degree in Jena with Professor Dirk Walther in 2003. He was then a Postdoctoral Fellow of the Research Training Network (RTN) “AC3S- Asymmetric Catalysis using Three-Fold Symmetry” of the European Union with Professor Pascual Lahuerta at the University of Valencia (Spain).
In 2006, he joined the group of Professor Franc Meyer at the Georg-August-University Göttingen (Germany) working in the field of organocopper chemistry. Subsequently, in 2008, he moved to the US to join Professor John A.
